What could make Christmas morning more special? This simple and delicious seasonal pomegranate orange mimosa. A colorful and flavorful sipper that is a great to pair with presents, this three ingredient cocktail is sure to make everyone’s morning sparkle.

The go to drink of the brunch crowd pretty much everywhere, the mimosa has a lot to offer. Endlessly riffable, easy to create, and usually using very simple ingredients, there’s not much bad to say about them. The classic is of course champagne and orange juice - and back in my early twenties bartending days creative cocktails weren’t so common, and this was pretty much the only option for curing hangovers, so I become quite familiar with them haha. Now there are so many fun ways to play around with mimosas for all occasions, I even made a mimosa bar for my sisters bachelorette party this past summer. This pomegranate orange combination is just perfect for this time of year.

I love these two flavors around this time of year! The pomegranate offers depth, tart, and a subtle sweetness. The orange liqueur lends fresh, bright, and tangy notes, and they both work amazingly with the sweetness of Prosecco. Check out this pomegranate tree in our backyard! It was struggling a bit and we only got a few tiny poms this year, but maybe next year we will have a solid harvest!

How to make the Christmas morning mimosa

One of the best things about this cocktail is it’s sheer simplicity- only three ingredients-no fancy equipment required! Simply add the pomegranate juice and orange liqueur in a champagne coupe or flute and top with Prosecco or your sparkling wine of choice and you’re good to go! Perfect for a hectic morning full of magic and presents and family. If you’d like you can garnish with fresh orange and pomegranate seeds. I love watching the seeds drop into this drink and spark another round of fizzy in the champagne!
